Meet the Artist

Neda Petrova

Neda Petrova is a Bulgaria based mixed media artist currently dedicated to collage technique and drawing.

Her creations are predominantly executed in paper, oil paint and pencils with an occurring interest to explore further the possibilities of mixed media and mediums to be included in the process. The practice through which the artworks are built consists in a loop cycle of drawing and cutting out to then assemble in an image.

Neda expresses her vision through images-artworks executed in different media combining not only techniques but various elements and pieces as well: the process of making a collage consists in drawing, painting (or both) a component – usually a figure – that is later attentively cut out from its surface as a separate object.

These so-called cut outs are then assembled in a composition where the background of each work is elaborated following a similar process of technique mixture. In the assembling process the elements are put together in variations until a convincing solution is discovered; afterwards all goes fixed.

Through this process the artist is creating an image that corresponds to a concrete imaginative atmosphere and reflects on the inner human state describing in visual form  reactions to mundane reality.

In 2026 Petrova is holding her first solo exhibition, set for the month of May.
